Please keep your child reading over vacation!
The students worked super hard today to get their work done so they can go to the Basketball Game tomorrow. They will still have a chance to work on any assignments not done tomorrow.
Have a wonderful time with your child over vacation. The 4th and 5th grade worked so well this week. Most students have a hard time the week before a vacation, but these kids kept it together and had a great week! That is due to your support! Thank you!!

Grammar Minute 77 and READ!!!!
Tomorrow is polka dot or stripe spirit day! The assignments due by this Friday are Text Evidence and Summarizing. The 5th grade will continue with the article about Harriet Tubman and the 4th grade started a new article about Jellyfish. After vacation, we will start informative writing and Project Sweet Talk.
***** Forms went home to Youngest and Only today about Baseball and Softball sign-ups. *****

Pen Pals
Grammar Minute 76 and Read?
Math????
The 5th grade heard from their pen pals today. These students attend Lourdes Academy in Daytona Beach, Florida. This is where Dr. O'Dell was principal. Some students did not hear from their pen pals so I will be contacting their teacher tomorrow to be sure all students are paired up. Some students have 2 pen pals because this 5th-grade class has about 32 students. We will be sharing our informative writing with them, and they will help us add details.

Sledding
Homework:
For tomorrow, everyone should have Grammar Minutes 70 & 71 done. Minute 69 was due on our snow day and 70 was due today. The students know they are to keep up with the Grammar Minutes is there is a snow day and they have the homework packet.

Math is due tomorrow.
We stayed outside today for extra recess so we could sled. It was perfect sledding weather. In order for kids to have free choice Friday, the Testlet assessment must be finished. Students must also spend time on Scholastic or DEAR reading.

I can't believe it is February. The students are doing a great job with their work. Next week, we will start the book we use for Project Sweet Talk. The 4th grade focuses on the process of sugaring and the 5th grade focuses on the maple tree and sugarbush.

A Good Day............
Grammar Minute and Math are due tomorrow. Students should be reading every night.
Today was a great day. Yes, we had some bumps along the way but that is normal. Normal is just fine. 4th and 5th graders are social beings. They should get re-directed, but they should also listen to those redirections and get back on task. I get it. I don't expect perfect behavior. I do expect a certain level of respect. Today was a great day! Thank you for your continued support. I couldn't do it without home support. Students of today are put under pressures that we were never exposed to. I love what I do and I love your kids. Fairfield is the best school and community I have worked in and I have taught in New York and Virginia. This is my 28th year, Thank you.
