This afternoon, we read a Narrative Nonfiction piece in Scholastic Scope about the Holocaust.  This story is about a man, Ben Kamm, who was a teenager during WWII. It is his story.  We focused on Ben and his experiences living in Warsaw and sneaking out to work with an undercover group of rebels fighting against Hitler. Concentration camps were mentioned, and I told the kids we would not be discussing this aspect of WWII. Mr. Stebbins will cover this in Social Studies in 7th grade.

Reading is the only homework tonight due to SBAC testing.  The students had another full day of testing and they all did a wonderful job.  Thankfully, the weather was nice and we enjoyed some extra time outside this afternoon.  Below is an image that I will never get tired of seeing............ students reading and choosing books to read.  I wish I had space for a larger library area!


At the beginning of the year, the students were given a genre record sheet.  They have been choosing books from these different genres all year and trying to fill in all the boxes.  This is an example of one.........

There is no homework tonight except for reading due to a long day of SBAC testing.  The students did a wonderful job focusing on the test and putting forth their best efforts!  I sent home a schedule of our testing yesterday.  There will be make-up days for students who are absent on testing days.
